Soil Classifications

Robot production rates vary based on the soils present when digging. Use the table below to select a classification closest to the soils found at the location where the robot will be used.

  Soft Medium Hard
Description Coarse-grained, loose soils that dry rapidly Semi-cohesive soils with moderately coarse textures Very cohesive soils that drain poorly
Examples Sand, silt, loam, sandy loam Angular gravel, silt loam, wet clay Sandstone, limestone, dry clay, caliche
